Perfection is Overrated

A female robot attempts to apply lipstick, but she is aiming it at her cheek.

I know that we as parents have very strong ideals about how we want to raise our kids. On topics such as screen time, nutrition, sleep habits and more. However, more times than not, when we become parents, we find out that what we want to do, what we can achieve, and what our kids need might be vastly different.

And even if we are able to accomplish the parenting style we desire on most days, there are going to be some days where it just doesn't go according to plan.

I'm here to remind you that it's okay to let things go every once in a while. On those days where the kids are having a meltdown and you give in to fast food instead of a home cooked meal, it's okay. On those days when you give in to a little more screen time than what is allotted, it's okay. On those days, you didn't get out to the door on time because the kids were moving like molasses, it's okay.

There's no such thing as a perfect person. And definitely, no perfect child. Remind yourselves that you are a good parent, even when things aren't perfect. Even when the ideals you want to stick to end up being broken. Because what matters most in the end is that your child is loved. You are doing what's right for them all the time and they know it.
